About Me

 Why am I still Here?
Why am I doing this?

The self, being me, would like to think that on March 6, 1951, that the world changed for the better. However that is not the case, but for Jim and Grace Burns their new edition changed the family dynamic for the next 2 years until my brother Chris was born to cement the family into its foundation.

I went to the same high school, Nottingham in Syracuse N.Y. as my older brothers, constantly in their shadow wether it was good or bad. My breakout from that experience came when I joined the Marine Corp at the suggestion of my 86 year old grandmother who told me I needed to get my own act together. She was right.  Aren't  grandmothers always right?

Thereafter I started my academic career at Onondaga Community College, SUNY Brockport and Simmons School of Mortuary Science Class of 1975.Where upon graduation I started my career in Funeral Service. They say there are 7 moments in your life that place you where you are at this time. For me the 2nd came when I attended a Funeral Seminar marketed as "Life Appreciation" where during this time I attended my own funeral. (more on that in a future post) I came away from that experience with the insight that I was wasting my life so I decided to quit drinking, smoking and to settle down. It was shortly after that where my prayers were answered and the best thing to happen was to meet my wife Gretchen Byrne on the first tee of a golf course. That was the 3rd and the 4th and 5th  was the births of my children, Tim and Virginia in the next 4 years.

The 6th was the day that no one wants to hear, that dreaded word with those 3 letters at the end -OMA. . Meaning cancer. But I;m still here 14years later wondering why I'm still here. When most of my childhood friends and Cancer Friends have left this beautiful world. A lot of times guilt overtakes me and I keep asking the ?, why am I still here?. The answer that always comes back to me is that my life is not yet complete.  That God has something planned for me and wants me to finish. When I was a kid of 10 years old walking back from Lancaster Foods I told my good friend Cole Duerr  that I was going to write a book and compose a song some day. I remember that day vividly. Why I don't know, but to remember that insignificant event that day is that maybe GOD WANTS ME TO WRITE A BOOK, naw that's why he invented BLOGS.

Let's have a great Journey while we question Life, Death, Ceremony, Success Thoughts and other various topics together. Who knows, maybe this is it, One never knows unless one tries.

GOD BLESS YOU
